AstraZeneca Chooses IntraLinks as its Standard Hub for Clinical Drug Trials
New York, March 18, 2003
IntraLinks, Inc., the leading provider of secure digital workspaces to the financial services and pharmaceutical communities, today announced that AstraZeneca will use IntraLinks as a secure hub to facilitate the exchange of information with investigator sites and other participants throughout the clinical trial process.
"In clinical trials that take years and cost millions of dollars, every day saved can result in therapeutic alternatives for patients and significant cost savings for the company. IntraLinks has emerged as one solution that could produce concrete time and cost savings, and we are now implementing its use in clinical trials," said Glenn Gormley, M.D., PhD, Vice President, U.S. Clinical Development, AstraZeneca. "Through the use of IntraLinks' services, we will greatly enhance information exchange among IRBs, CROs, investigators and trial managers, and hope to accelerate the process significantly. We anticipate that the results of this initiative will be enormously successful."
Pharmaceutical companies use IntraLinks' Internet-based services to communicate and deliver documentation pertaining to clinical trials, drug licensing, mergers and acquisitions and other complex, high-value business processes that require secure exchange of information across enterprise boundaries. IntraLinks provides a neutral third party environment that is fully hosted and includes 24-hour service and support. IntraLinks' service was designed to comply with FDA and ICH computer system validation requirements.
"Within the pharmaceutical community, market-leaders like AstraZeneca are continuously seeking innovative ways to reduce the time necessary to bring drugs to market," said Richard Jenkins, General Manager of Life Sciences at IntraLinks. "IntraLinks is committed to providing the pharmaceutical industry with the service and technology needed to speed clinical trials through our drug development hub."
