Model Agreement Group Initiative (MAGI) uses IntraLinks to Speed Collaboration in New Initiative to Create Standardized Clinical Trial Agreements

New York, May 3, 2004
The Model Agreement Group Initiative (MAGI), a life sciences association launched to accelerate the clinical trial site contracting process, today announced that it will use the IntraLinks secure online service to facilitate its development of standard site contracts. This standardization is expected to shorten the contract negotiation process by at least two weeks.

“Today, the contract approval process is extremely tedious and slow because each sponsor uses an entirely different contract forma,” said Norman Goldfarb, chairman of MAGI and CEO of First Clinical Research, a multi-specialty clinical research site based in San Francisco. “Creating a standardized contract template will dramatically cut the time and cost associated with getting clinical trials underway. Utilizing IntraLinks to facilitate this project brings us closer to a future in which we can negotiate and even sign clinical study agreements online.”

MAGI has gathered together people from over 100 life sciences organizations including Duke Clinical Research Institute, ICON Clinical Research, ImClone Systems, ISIS Pharmaceuticals, Quintiles Transnational, Stanford University, and the Veteran’s Administration (NAVREF) to collaborate on a flexible, “multiple-choice” agreement template. The IntraLinks service will enable MAGI members, located around the country, to distribute, exchange, and track information online with greater efficiency and ease. MAGI membership is open to people in the life sciences industries who share its goal of accelerating clinical trials and speeding new medical products to market. More information is available at www.firstclinical.com/magi.

“IntraLinks is pleased that MAGI has chosen to use its services to enhance its collaboration on this important initiative,” said Richard Jenkins, general manager for Life Sciences at IntraLinks. “By reducing the time spent tracking paper and exchanging telephone calls, MAGI will significantly minimize the time it takes to bring their efforts to fruition, while experiencing first-hand the value of being part of the clinical community on IntraLinks.”
