IntraLinks Joins SAFE-BioPharma Association’s Vendor Partner Program

Collaboration to enable the use of digital signatures with secure document exchange

New York, March 26, 2007
IntraLinks, Inc., the leading provider of online workspaces for secure document exchange, announced today that it has joined the Vendor Partner program of SAFE-BioPharma Association, a non-profit association that created and manages the SAFE™ digital identity and signature standard for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

For the past seven years, IntraLinks has worked closely with leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies to transition the document exchange component of the complete clinical trial management process from a paper-based to web-based environment. With the combined benefit of IntraLinks and the SAFE digital standard, investigator site personnel will be able to securely receive, complete, sign and submit critical clinical study documents electronically, accelerating the review process while avoiding the delays and risks associated with emailing, printing and shipping sensitive documents.

The SAFE standard provides a secure, legally enforceable, and regulatory compliant way to verify the identities of parties involved in business-to-business and business-to-regulator electronic transactions. Through the SAFE standard, SAFE promotes interoperability and integration among researchers, vendors, regulators, clinicians and other pharmaceutical and healthcare stakeholders.

“We are pleased to have IntraLinks as a new member of the SAFE community,” said Mollie Shields-Uehling, president and CEO, SAFE-BioPharma Association. “Currently, managing clinical trials requires the complex exchange of thousands of pages of paper documents. Technologies that streamline these interactions and reduce paper are transforming the lifescience industry.”

“The demands of managing a steadily growing array of business partners and documents during clinical trials, product cross-licensing and other marketplace initiatives continue to grow more challenging for today’s biopharmaceutical organizations,” said David Espenshade, vice president for life sciences at IntraLinks. “Through this partnership, we will help biopharmaceutical professionals simplify compliance and security by enabling them to employ the SAFE standard to manage digital identities and signatures within a secure, globally accessible paperless operating environment.”
