Skip the clip's story

Skip the paperclip never felt comfortable with this role in life. Like his father and his father’s father, Skip’s purpose was to make attachments. The job was monotonous and short-lived. He’d witnessed too many of his brothers and sisters become bent, get thrown away, or get attached to documents that were misfiled and never heard from again.

With the age of email, the role of the paperclip changed. Now, as a virtual form of attachment, new problems arose. His own mother got blamed for a security lapse and his best friend was implicated in a sloppy, wayward send. Accidental forwarding, lost documents and breaches of company protocol, attachments were blamed for it all.

Skip envisioned a better life for himself—and for all paperclips. He knew there had to be a more secure, accountable and controlled way to exchange vital information.

While deployed on a routine document-attaching mission for Widget Bank, Skip discovered the way—IntraLinks. He witnessed secure document exchange firsthand and instantly became a convert. Syndicated loans, mergers and acquisitions, even a corporate repository—Skip saw that IntraLinks eliminated the risk of exposing sensitive information. Filled with urgency and wonder, he had to share the news.

He called for a Quorum of the Clips. Both young and old attended. “I’ve figured out a way to exchange documents securely that will keep us safe from the hazards of our occupation!” he said.

“Stronger materials,” a veteran clip interrupted. “Steel or platinum is what we need to be made of,” he said, lifting a damaged prong. He’d suffered grave wounds in the campaign of 2002, when Alpha Bank acquired Zeta Bank.

A young, cocky clip laughed. “We’re virtual now. No need for stronger materials. Anyway, we’re secure enough.”

“Not for sensitive documents,” Skip said. “We can’t control what happens to a document once somebody hits send. Sure, we’re fine for everyday attachments. But I’ve found a better way,” he said. “A way to exchange sensitive information without risking unwanted exposure. That way is IntraLinks. It’s the most trusted name in electronic document exchange.”

From that day forward, Skip’s mission was to spread the word and help his brothers and sisters steer clear of the perils of document exchange by using IntraLinks.
