IntraLinks Hosts Film Screening at the Tribeca Film Festival
Throughout its history, Manhattan has been a city with its share of institutions, icons, and legends behind the magic responsible for making it larger than life. The city that never sleeps has no shortage of big personalities and bright stars, and every spring they converge at the Tribeca Film Festival.
What better backdrop for IntraLinks to host an exclusive event to thank our clients and catch up with old friends than the Tribeca Film Festival? Amid sparkling glasses of cocktails and savory trays of hors d’ouvres, guests had the chance to mingle with their colleagues and make new acquaintances.
As the cocktail chatter died down, guests grabbed popcorn and prepared for a private screening of the independent film “Limelight”, named for one of New York’s iconic landmarks, the Limelight nightclub. Its legendary owner nightclub impresario Peter Gatien was the subject of the film. In the 90s Peter was the wizard responsible for conjuring up a club scene that set the high water mark for the city’s nightlife.
The movie’s producer, and daughter of the film’s subject Jen Gatien, gave a brief introduction to the film. When the lights went out, guests stepped into a time machine that took them from a place in time where the Limelight currently hosts a benign upscale shopping pavilion, to one when it hosted a range of celebrities and club kids. Following the screening, the evening wound down with the opportunity for our more than 80 guests to engage in a Q & A session with the film’s producer, who answered questions about the movie and the sorcery behind her father’s epic nightclub empire.
As I exited the theater that evening, I started to think about the magic behind the film festival. Every year countless hours and dollars are spent to coordinate events, orchestrate celebrity appearances, and manage the massive effort behind distributing film files and clips. I left with a sense of pride knowing that the Tribeca Film Festival uses IntraLinks Courier.
