It all started on October 25, 2014: Over 4,000 professionals and students from more than 100 countries came together to compete in this year’s Financial Modeling World Championships, ModelOff competition. Sponsored by Intralinks Dealspace™, the competition culminated this Sunday, December 7, 2014, in a final round of live financial modeling at at the Microsoft Offices in New York City. The sixteen finalists to compete put their quick, innovative, data and risk understanding skills to the test against one another in front of a panel of expert judges with the hopes of following in the footsteps of previous champions Alex Gordon and Hilary Smart.
Top Financial Modelers Take the Podium
The four and a half hours long final round tested the endurance, creativity and skills of the remaining ModelOff participants.
Contestants from APAC dominated the podium, with Australia’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation’s Peter Suen and New Zealand’s PwC’s Michael Clarke taking third place, just behind Hong Kong’s Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Alvin Woon who was awarded second place.
And without further ado, the person to be crowned the 2014 Financial Modeling World Champion is … the United States’ Diarmuid Early of Deutsche Bank!
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s ModelOff competition and big congrats to everyone who competed!
